Corporate Development Manager, Zendesk

Remote As a newly private company under private equity ownership, mergers and acquisitions are a key part of our value creation strategy. Zendesk is uniquely positioned at the intersection of several rapidly evolving sectors within customer experience, including AI in customer service, workforce engagement management, IT service management, customer relationship management, and other adjacent areas. Who Were Looking For We seek a highly driven and skilled MandA professional who is enthusiastic about taking on various deals from start to finish. The position reports to the Corporate Development Director and will work closely with senior leadership across the organization to identify strategic areas for growth and establish MandA priorities for the company. The position is expected to have a significant role in all aspects of the corporate development process, including market research, sourcing, valuation, due diligence, and deal negotiation. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for technology and innovation. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a small but impactful team at a rapidly growing enterprise software company. What Youll Be Doing Assist with build/buy/partner analyses for key strategic priorities working in close partnership with business and corporate teams. Manage due diligence process and partner closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Sales, and People teams to assess risks, identify potential synergies, and ensure that the project stays on track and meets its timelines. Conduct rigorous financial analysis to assess MandA opportunities, including developing pro-forma operating models, target company valuation, integration cost modeling, and transaction impact analysis. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Zendesks business, industry trends, and competitive landscape to identify strategic growth opportunities. Cultivate and maintain relationships with key constituents in the broader ecosystem, including investment banks, venture capital firms, founders, and other strategics. Create and present deal-related analyses and recommendations to Zendesks senior leadership team, owners, and board of directors. Assist the deal lead in deal negotiations and be responsible for the documentation of the deal in concert with legal. Manage internal “CRM” to effectively manage opportunity pipeline and communicate across stakeholders. As we scale, this role should be capable of taking the lead on modest-sized deals, coordinating a cross-functional team, and facilitating executive reviews. What Youll Bring To The Role Bachelors degree from a top-tier school in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is preferred. 4-5 years in investment banking and private equity or 6+ years in corporate development, venture capital, or management consulting esp. Transaction Services or Valuation with a focus on technology and SaaS industries. Previous experience leading aspects of MandA transactions, strategic partnerships, and other growth initiatives. Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and provide clear recommendations. The Manager will own the model during evaluation and finance, eventually handing off to finance. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present information to senior leadership and stakeholders. A high level of integrity, collaboration, and a commitment to delivering results. Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive projects to completion. A deep understanding of the SaaS business models, market, and industry trends affecting the collaboration and productivity sector Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills with financial modeling expertise required for valuation and market sizing
