VC Platform Global Community is a one of a kind community for 1,400+ platform professionals across the venture capital industry, representing 750+ venture capital firms around the world.
The community exists to elevate the venture capital platform profession globally by recognizing and propagating standards of excellence in portfolio and firm management to benefit the member community, the portfolio companies we serve and the venture capital industry at large. From when the community first started in 2013, it has played a massive role in driving understanding of what platform is and paving the way for this emerging career. As the profession has grown and more venture capital firms have added platform roles to their teams, the work of the community is more important than ever.
To support our goals, we are looking to welcome a Community Operations Intern to help with launching some significant strategic initiatives that will directly support all of our members and their 50,000+ startup portfolio companies. As an intern you will have the ability to help to shape the future of the community, and the entire venture capital industry, while having the opportunity to engage with our community member who represent firms such as Sequoia, FirstMark, Battery, Bessemer, General Catalyst, Scale, Costanoa, Khosla, NEA, Greylock, Accel and many more. Role Description
As our Community Operations Intern, you will get the opportunity to help with a wide range of projects and interface directly with our members leading some very high priority projects. This role is perfect for someone who likes the idea of learning about all parts of how the VC industry and the platform role functions and who can think strategically around ways to support the industry at-large in order to better serve our member's collective portfolio companies.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Leading the creation of an industry-wide community vendor database. This will involve significant research, data aggregations, and surveying. You will ultimately lead the design and launch of this tool for the entire community as our product manager.
- Supporting the build out and maintenance of our technology stack, including our custom-built community platform.
- Community management and quality control including interacting with our members in-person, through email, surveys and other forms of communication to understand how we can improve the community experience for our members.
- Assisting with community sponsor management and engagement, including sponsor communication and support as it relates to connecting them to our members and tracking the value they get from the community, including through the vendor database.
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong technical proficiency is required, including strong Excel skills. Comfort using no-code applications such as Zapier, Webflow, and Airtable is highly preferred.
- A strong operational skill set and experience run large-scale projects, including research and survey efforts in an academic or professional environment.
- Ability to work in a highly independent and self directed role with success.
- Exceptional communication abilities, specifically when it comes to concise and professional email correspondence.
- Significant maturity and professionalism, comfort working with and gaining credibility from senior executives and seasoned venture capitalists.
- Strong detail orientation and high standards of excellence.
- A long-term interest in working in venture capital is not required, but welcomed.
- Candidates are required to have at least 12 months of prior work experience, across internships, part-time or full time work. Experience founding a company or leading a large student organization is highly desirable.
Logistics:
- This is a remote role and candidates can be based anywhere. Preference is for candidates based in the US, Canada, UK, or Europe Depending on the candidate’s location and interest, we can arrange a workspace at one of our community member’s offices.
- This internship is open to full-time students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees
- Fluency in English is required
- We anticipate that this internship role will last for 3 months, but we are flexible on the actual length based on the candidate's academic schedule.
